Effective treatment for urological problems

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

A common problem among aging men, BPH or enlarged prostate can cause uncomfortable symptoms such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder, a frequent urge to urinate and feeling that the bladder is not empty. It can also lead to bladder, urinary tract or kidney problems. Treatments include medication, minimally invasive therapies and surgery.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

More common in women, these infections occur in any part of the urinary system, affecting kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. UTIs are typically treated with a course of antibiotics and usually clear up within a week. Seek our doctors help in taking the necessary precautions to reduce the risk of contracting UTIs.

Erectile Dysfunction

The condition is marked by an inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex. It can lead to stress, loss of self-confidence and relationship issues. Moreover, it could be a sign of an underlying health that needs treatment. The treatment may include oral medications, surgical implants and psychological counseling.

Urinary Incontinence

Loss of bladder control is a common problem but one which causes a lot of embarrassment and discomfiture. It can lead to leakage of urine during sneezing, coughing or a sudden burst of laughter, and in more severe cases the urge to urinate is so sudden and strong that it flows out before getting to a toilet. The symptoms, in most cases, can be treated by lifestyle and dietary changes or medical care.

Kidney and Ureteral Stones

When the urine becomes concentrated, often the minerals crystallize and stick together to form hard deposits inside the kidneys. These stones, when they get lodged in the ureters, can block the flow of urine and cause extreme pain. While smaller stones can be passed through urine, the bigger ones pose a problem. We have the expertise to perform advanced treatment procedures including extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy and ureteroscopy.

Advanced procedures for urological problems

Urology Advanced
Nephrectomy

A surgical procedure for removal of all or part of a kidney, it is usually performed to treat kidney cancer as well as other kidney diseases and injuries. It is also done to remove a healthy kidney from a donor (either living or deceased) for transplanting into a person who needs a functioning kidney.

Prostatic Surgery

Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a surgery that is done to treat urinary problems that are caused due to an enlarged prostate. It involves use of a resectoscope, inserted through the tip of your penis, which allows the doctor to see and cut away excess prostate tissue that’s blocking the flow of urine.

Urethral Surgery

This is a reconstructive surgical procedure performed in men for urethral stricture (narrowing) that happens after trauma to the urethra, such as from hip fracture, or after prostate cancer treatment. It involves removing the scarred, damaged section of the urethra and reattaching the two healthy ends.

Testicular Surgery

The procedure is also called radical inguinal orchiectomy, and is done to surgically remove a testicle with cancer. It is used to typically treat all testicular cancers and involves an incision made just above the pubic area from where the testicle is removed from the scrotum.

Surgery of the Ureters

Ureters are the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. When urine can’t flow properly due to formation of scar tissue which narrows the ureter, a surgical procedure (ureteroplasty) may be performed to remove the stricture. Our surgeons also have the expertise to conduct Ureterolithotomy, the open or laparoscopic surgical removal of a stone from the ureter.

Renal Surgery

A surgical procedure to treat the narrowing down of one or more renal arteries that carry blood to the kidneys, it may include renal angioplasty and stenting or renal artery bypass surgery.

Bladder Surgery

Also referred to as cystectomy, this is a procedure to surgically remove the urinary bladder. In men it includes removal of the prostate and seminal vesicles while in women it involves removal of the uterus, ovaries and part of the vagina. It is usually performed to treat bladder cancer or other pelvic tumours.

Penile Surgery

Penile implant surgery is a procedure to help men with erectile dysfunction, which has not responded to other treatments. It involves placing a prosthetic device inside the penis and scrotum that allows the man to get an erection and regain sexual function.

Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection (PLND)

PLND is a surgical procedure done to check for cancer in the lymph nodes in the pelvis or to remove the lymph nodes affected by cancer. It is also called a pelvic lymphadenectomy, ilioinguinal lymphadenectomy or deep groin dissection, and can be done using an open method or laparoscopic technique.
